Goat Shepherding Mother and Child Workshop

Join us for a one day workshop with shepherdess Amanita Thorpe Berto and her three year old daughter Miracle as they teach us about the regenerative land practices of goat shepherding. Amanita has been grazing a flock of goats and sheep since she was a child growing up on a farm in Galisteo. In 2010 she founded Horned Locust Remediation, a regenerative landscaping service that travels all over Northern New Mexico with a trailer of goats and sheep using grazing to control weeds, clear allergens, prevent fires, and put nutrients and minerals back into the soil. While Amanita has almost 200 goats and sheep, she will be bringing just 12 mother and baby goats with her to Moon Horse Ranch, because we have our own goats who want to eat our weeds and grasses. She will also be bringing a puppy Livestock Guardian Dog for us to meet. She will be teaching us about how goats control weeds, prevent fires, and help enrich our soil. She will also be teaching us about kidding and lambing, best animal husbandry practices, and demonstrating milking. Her 3 year old goat shepherdess daughter Miracle will be with her, teaching alongside her, and children are welcome and free at this workshop.
